Physiotherapy for the spine and nervous system

This group covers problems where pain or weakness is linked to the spine, the nerves or the large joints: disc herniation, neck pain, spinal osteoarthritis, knee and hip arthritis, brachial plexus injuries and rehabilitation after a stroke or paralysis.

The first assessment includes tests of movement, strength, sensation and reflexes. This helps us separate the cases physiotherapy can treat from those that first need a neurologist, orthopaedic doctor or neurosurgeon.

How we work

Your plan depends on the diagnosis and stage: first we settle pain and keep you moving, then we rebuild strength, balance and function. For neurological problems we use repeated, task-specific exercise; for spinal problems education matters just as much: how to sit, work and move without overloading the area.

Every patient also gets a home exercise programme, because much of the progress happens between sessions.
